New community and senior center opens
The new George Pierce Community Center and Prime Timers Pointe Senior Activity Center will open Friday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2 p.m. The new facility is located at George Pierce Park in Suwanee. A grand opening celebration will be 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. Saturday with children's activities, musical entertainment, and free food. The 16,000-square-foot community center, the fourth community center operated by Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation, features a community room, catering kitchen, three classrooms, a dance/aerobic studio, game room, and outdoor basketball courts. The Prime Timers Pointe Senior Activity Center's nearly 10,000 square feet of space has a large meeting room with a catering kitchen, two classrooms, a billiards room, lounge area, a covered patio with shuffleboard courts, and the SeniorNet Computer Room.
