'Carol' echoes
Aside from the Nativity itself, Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" is the most familiar story of the holiday season. The miraculous transformation of flinty old Ebenezer Scrooge, accomplished by a team of spirits on Christmas Eve, is a marvelous tale by a masterful writer who saw himself -- and what he might have become -- in the character of Scrooge. Perhaps the most magical aspect of a "A Christmas Carol" is that it remains meaningful even now, more than 160 years after Dickens wrote it, because the world still remains full of Scrooges -- pre- reformation Scrooges, that is. Consider: Scrooge and his business partner Jacob Marley probably would have felt right at home in the board rooms at Enron or any of the other disgraced corporations where greed trumped integrity and morality.
Bio-drains to reduce pollutants
DRAINS ARE usually designed to carry different type of wastewater — from rainfall runoff to spent water generated from residential and commercial centres. At times sewage too finds their way into these water carriage units through unauthorised openings made. An appropriate method to keep the drains less loaded with decaying matter has become inevitable. An attempt have been made by our team to develop a `bio-drain' which consist of a conduit embedded with fibrous materials capable of retaining microbial population needed to undertake the removal of organics and nutrients from flowing water has been developed. Bio-drain technology The fibrous materials have been identified as better media for supporting the microbial population in wastewater treatment operations due to their higher specific area.
Getting Buff
It's been six years since I joined the gym in an effort to get my post-baby flab whipped into shape. Of course, I almost didn't come back after the first day, so mortifying was my experience. Let me back up a little smidgen. I was never what one would refer to as "sporty." So joining a gym wasn't exactly a natural thing for me to do. My first day was to be spent with a personal trainer type to assess my "bod," evaluating exactly what needed to happen for it to get buff. Of course, I had on the wrong shoes right off the bat. They were suede, if you really want to know how patently "uncool" I was that day. "Hi, I'm Mike. I'm going to be doing your fitness evaluation today." Gulp. Before me stood one of God's gifts to womankind, a guy so dazzling I could barely speak.
New Amenities Open at Vermont Ski Resort
Ludlow, VT - Last week was a week of debuts at Okemo Mountain Resort, as owners Tim and Diane Mueller officiated at the opening of Jackson Gores Spring House, a fitness and aquatic center, and The Ice House skating rink and sports arena at the central Vermont ski and snowboard resort. The recent improvements to Jackson Gore make Okemo a fun place to visit for skiers and non-skiers alike at all times of the day, says Jackson Gore General Manager Charlie Dickerman. These new features also add a new dimension for four-season travelers and for conference and convention visitors as we look to the future. The celebratory opening ceremonies took place Sunday, December 10, with a media tour of Jackson Gores new Ice House, a regulation-sized hockey rink and recreational ice skating pavilion.
