President asks cadets to acquire mental, physical fitness

WASHINGTON, Dec 6 (APP): Pakistan's policy of deregulation, a talented workforce and ease of doing of business make it investment-friendly, says a Canadian entrepreneur, whose company recently invested in telecommunication sector of the country. Carey Healey, senior Vice President of Infosat Telecommunications, said Pakistan's current leadership under President Pervez Musharraf has taken steps to deregulate Pakistan's telecom sector, facilitating companies to conduct business.

Pakistan's educated population not only makes for good business partnerships, it indicates good market potential as well, he said.

In an interview with The Vancouver Sun, he noted Pakistan has a large English-speaking population, and many business people are either educated in the West or are trained by those who have been.

Holly kisses singing goodbye

IT'S been four years since her hit single Kiss Kiss, but Holly Valance is lapping up the Hollywood party scene and focusing on an acting career.

Based in Los Angeles, she has put her musical ambitions on hold to focus on acting, recently scoring roles in Prison Break, Entourage and the film DOA: Dead Or Alive.

Valance and her actor boyfriend, Alex O'Loughlin, enjoy the expat life.

"I love hiking in the canyons,'' Valance tells InStyle magazine, out tomorrow.

"If you've been having a crap day, it's really inspirational.

"You get to the top and can look out over the entire city.''

Valance is also enjoying the Hollywood night life.

"Everything you read about LA and think, 'Oh, that doesn't really happen,' it does,'' she says.

Dancing helps patients breathe better

SEBASTIAN — It may not be "dancing with the stars" but for some local residents with breathing problems, it's a sure way to exercise and enjoy life at the same time.

That's the theory behind the dancing demonstration Dec. 8 at the Sebastian River Medical Center's monthly Fit for Life Health Series. The program, called "Dancing Your Way to Better Breathing" showed pulmonary rehabilitation patients how to use easy dance steps to control shortness of breath and lead more productive, independent and healthy lives.

Key To Skiing Fitness Is Combining Different Types Of Training, CU ...

Planning a ski vacation this winter but worried you are running out of time to get into decent shape before you hit the slopes?

A University of Colorado at Boulder expert says it can be done and all it takes is one hour of exercise per day, three to four days a week.

"If somebody could commit three to four hours a week doing specific exercises they'll be in good enough shape for the Christmas break," said Daniel Weinberger, CU-Boulder's assistant Nordic ski and fitness coach. "They'll be able to ski around the cross-country course or ski down the hill and enjoy their vacation."

Weinberger's first advice is for people to find an exercise that they enjoy such as mountain biking, jogging, swimming or brisk walking.

"Do the exercises that you enjoy doing and keep it fun, that way it is easier to stay motivated and to stay in shape," he said.
