Getting fit for life

I cut my hair short this fall, for the first time in years, and, as hoped, it has cut my morning ablutions to 10 minutes flat, including newfound time to splash on some lipstick.

But the coif has a side benefit, too, that I’m only just realizing: I lost a lot of weight last spring before exiting for the summer, and the hair thing is giving friends and acquaintances an easy way to process the fact that I look a bit different. "You got your hair cut?!" "Yes," I can honestly answer, with a big smile.

Many guys assume they’ve cracked the code right there (and this is nothing to sniff at. It can take months for the men around my breakfast table to notice a new "do"). But women often see the bigger {er, smaller?] picture and ask a follow up question: "And how did you lose…?"

So after dozens of conversations on the "how," a few Wellesley men and women, who have battled the bulge and lost 10, 20, 30 and 85 pounds, thought we’d get our journeys down on paper in the event they can encourage others.

Hollywood wild child Lindsay Lohan is supposed to be turning over a new leaf and curbing her hard partying, after it was revealed she's attending Alcoholics Annonymous meetings.

So you'll be pleased to know her latest venture is purely for the good of her health: Lindsay's been attending stripping/pole dancing classes - with her mum! Dina and Lindsay, who are extermely close and even go clubbing together (?!) have been attending S Factor classes in LA. The raunchy dances provide a good aerobic workout, apparently.

Meanwhile, Linds has been seen partying with non-celeb pals and drinking only water on nights out. Keep up the good work... .

DJ turns tables in fat fight

AS HE nears the end of his battle with the bulge, DJ Boogie has his boxing gloves on. Jumping around the gym at the Balmoral, he prepares to take a swing at the punch-bag hanging from the ceiling, before throwing the gloves off and doing some balance and weight-lifting exercises with his trainer.

Five minutes later he's jumping up from that, still raring to go, and demanding: "What's next?"

Lohan, mum attend strip classes

The Mean Girls star and her mother Dina, who are often seen out clubbing together, were seen at the weekend leaving Los Angeles aerobics studio, Sheila Kelley's S Factor.

The class is an aerobic workout based on strip tease and poll dance routines designed to tone up and increase fitness, according to website X17.

Lindsay has also started joined Alcoholics Anonymous in a bid to turn over a new leaf and clean up her lifestyle.

Although the 20-year-old actress was seen with a glass of champagne at the GQ awards two weeks ago, she has since been seen at Los Angeles hotspots Hollywood Social, Hyde and Chateau Marmont drinking water.

Lindsay has ditched her party animal pals such as Paris Hilton and has only been socialising with her non-celebrity friends, according to the New York Post newspaper.
